Röbby’s Coming Home Tonight!

I am so excited to see my handsome hubby when he gets home from his camping trip with the guys.  I sure missed him while he was gone.  I hope he realizes that I don’t mind him going camping with his true friends.  He just sometimes chooses poorly when deciding who to spend time with.

I have such a busy day planned.  I will be going to the store to buy some delicious meatloaf and mashed potatoes along with their roasted veggie side dish.  I just love the ready made counter at the supermarket.  It makes my homemade meals so much easier. I will still have to work, work, work in the kitchen to heat it up in the microwave and put it on plates.

Of course I also need to exercise, and I have no idea when I will even have time to change out of my running clothes!  I am that busy!

Luckily this outfit is very comfy. Maybe I can just slip on some heels to dress it up a bit.

I know Röbert will want to see the kids right away, but they will be all over town playing with different friends.  I hope I can even remember where they are.  Oh well, I am sure he will want to go get them and he will figure it out eventually.  And Stefan can stay here to help me set the table, since Merlin isn’t home.

I can’t wait to see Röbert!

A Dinner Treat

Röbert was scheduled to leave for a hiking trip with his friends after dinner tonight.  It has been a while since he has gotten away like this, and I have a babysitter and plans for tomorrow night.

He arrived home from work with a lil’ surprise; Stefan is back in town for work and decided he would pick up Röb so they could drive up together.  Fortunately I always look pretty great, because I wasn’t dressed as if I were expecting a guest!

I sent the children right up to bed with a lil’ extra something in their juice.  They all fell asleep like angles.  Röbert made us some delicious chicken and rice and Stefan threw together a salad while I was upstairs.  Stefan and I didn’t have a second alone, but he kept staring at me and even texted me a couple of times.  Naughty boy!

He looks so handsome in his work clothes and his play clothes.

After dinner the men changed and went out to Stefan’s SUV to load up their stuff.  After they were gone I heard someone come back through the door: it was Stefan.  He said he left his phone behind in purpose, kissed me for a minute or two, and left again.  I can’t believe he did it with Röbert right outside in the truck.

Missing My Friend

I have been extrememly overwhelmed with setting up this event for the school faculty on Friday and I just wish Cari was here.  Last night I decided that Starling and I should try a lil’ camping on for size and see how it went.  Maybe next year we will be able to go to Burning Man too.  It has been going on for a few years, but it is just starting to catch on with the cooler crowd, and I know we would fit right in.

Starling had done a little camping trip with Röbert a few weeks back, but he says it did not go well, and neither one would talk about it.  I had Röb set up a tent and light a campfire in our yard for us and we went out to to cook our dinner in the wild.

We burned everything so it was romaine leaves for dinner, but that is our favorite meal anyway.

After dinner we went over near the window and tried to read lips on the tv.  It was so frustrating not to know what was going on!  We were so bored by 7:30 we decided to go to bed, but when we saw the ugly sleeping bags we both burst into tears.

It was a school night anyway!  It was really the right thing to go back inside, where we had lovely air-conditioning and there were no bugs and were able to take a long luxurious shower.  I am going to look into the most luxurious way to experience camping out in the future.

Going Camping

Cari and Amber are looking forward to their favorite event of the year, Burning Man!  We sure will miss them, and Amber will miss the first couple of weeks of school, but it is such a wonderful educational opportunity for their family, and they wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Of course Starling wants to go with them..  She has been crying and complaining that she can’t start school without her lil’ buddy.  I am not a camper and Röbert does not think Burning Man is a good use of our resources, so we will not be joining them this year.  I suggested to Röbert that we shake Starling out of her funk by letting her experience camping with him.  So the two of them set out for a Daddy-Daughter 3 day hike and camping trip early this morning.  Starling was all dressed in festival wear, including some darling fringed boots.

I think the moment Röbert digs a hole in the woods and tells her that is her toilet, is the moment they will be heading home.

Of course that means that I am a single mom again.  I don’t know how i do everything!  I took the boys over to the park to do a little fishing today.  I didn’t bait their hooks because, eeew, so there was no chance I would end up cleaning a disgusting fish, but it kept them occupied for a few hours so I could catch up with my friends at a semi-nearby picnic table.

He couldn't figure out why nothing was biting. LOL! Who is the smart one now?

I did call the preschool about Hummus and the director was so rude.  She said she hadn’t called me back because she thought I was joking.  The nerve!  Well, her oldest will be in the kindergarten at Rumsfeld Elementary this fall, and we will see how that goes!

Oh, you can vote for Hummus in the Cute Kid contest every day in August.  I have perused the other entries and they aren’t much to speak of.  I wish I could get a hold of their parents and encourage them to just give it up.

A Lil’ Heart to Heart

This morning my parents took the children to church with them which gave Röbert and me a chance to spend some alone time together.  We decided to have a nice brunch, but Röb completely ruined it by talking about money again.  Why does he always ruin our happy times by talking about stupid money?

Apparently we aren’t rich, which is a surprise to exactly no one.  He wants me to cut back a little bit, but where can I cut back?  Starling and I don’t eat anything and I barely buy any shoes and clothes anymore.  He said something about my gym membership and charges to the cafe there and I got a splitting my grain!  My gym membership?  He had better be joking!

I mentioned how I needed a some me time, what with him spending so much time away from home last winter and he looked like he might have a lil’ my grain too.  Would that be a him grain? Remind me to look it up.  He got kind of quiet then, and said that he was no longer spending that time away from our family and he would like to explore whether he and I could eventually get our exercise in the great outdoors, together.  I said sure.  I mean, I know I can’t give up the gym, but I can pretend to try.

He is so handsome and kind. I have a hard time saying no to him!

We had several glasses of champagne and by the end of the meal I think I may have agreed to go camping.  I know I will hate camping.  Ugh.  What have I done?

Time to Get Away

I woke up even more upset and confused about whoever K is. I am sure Röbert would never cheat on me, but I just feel so sad and confused.

I dropped the big kids off at my mother’s but she wouldn’t let me drop off Hummus, just because he has a fever and is throwing up a tiny bit.  So he was my lil’ sidekick as I drove out of town to gather my thoughts.  I ended up in this small town next to a big state park and Just sat in front of the general store and watched Hummus sleep off some Benadryl in his carseat.

I must have drifted off too, because I was startled when I heard a knock on my car window.  You will never believe who it was!  No, not Röbert.  Not Karen or Mitch either.  It was Ty!  I had totally forgotten that he had mentioned that he was camping near here this weekend!  LOL!

His snowmobile is such fun!

What a coincidence.  I asked him if he would join me for lunch at the sweet little inn next to the river.  He took a lil’ convincing, but eventually he said yes.  I could tell he was thrilled to spend some one on one time with his favorite class mom. LOL!  Luckily I happened to have made a reservation there, so we were seated right away.  He was such a gentleman, he insisted that we bring Hummus and his carseat inside (he was still asleep) even though I am sure he would have been fine in the car.

I was glad I had taken care with my appearance, even though I was distraught. I wouldn't want to "shock" my buddy, Ty.

After I had confessed that I was taking time to think about “things” and had no place to stay and he had checked with the inn and called several local hotels and motels to find that they were all booked, he very kindly offered to have me and Hummus stay with him.  So we all piled on his snowmobile, and off we went.

I will confess, when he said camping I was thinking more like glamping, with a big old tent and running water or even a chic, rustic Ralph Lauren cabin in the woods.  Nope, Ty takes his camping seriously and was staying in a tiny tent in the snow.  Hummus had woken up on the trip out there, and was thirsty but Ty only had water to drink.  Unbelievable.  He didn’t even have wine for later.

Can you see how small this tent is? I was really thinking it would be more like a small cozy 3 bedroom cabin.

All of a sudden I remembered something.  I was the one who had bought that ugly shirt!  It was a gift for Karen last Christmas, and then we had a fight and I never gave it to her.  I should have known who it was for when I saw how hideous it was.  Ha ha!  That explains the K on the shirt and I am sure the pajamas were just Röbert being Röbert.

Ty was, of course, disappointed, but drove me back to my car as soon as I told him that I needed to get home.  LOL, I am such a silly goose!
