Reunited…and it feels so good!

Cari and Amber got back last night from Burning Man.  Apparently it is very dusty there so she just tosses all of their clothes into a Goodwill donation box somewhere in Nevada.  Let that mess be the charity’s problem to deal with, and the poors will be the beneficiary of relatively nice clothing (she doesn’t bring anything really valuable to the playa).

She says Burning Man always reminds her about taking care of the earth and valuing our resources.  Such an important message!

Amber and Starling were delighted to be together at school today.  I am afraid this has been a rough week for Starling.  I hope the school can get these other children to stop their bullying her about being a bully!  I don’t know why they have separated her from her best friend.

They couldn't stop laughing about something Julia wore to school today. She thought it was cute but it was totally ridiculous.

Hummus had a wonderful first day of school I am sure.  He was asleep when I picked him up, he slept straight through the night and was still asleep when we pulled back into the parking lot this morning. I poked him and handed him a toaster pastry.  School time, lil’ buddy! He is wearing his Daniel Tiger underpants today.  Let’s hope they get a little more respect than poor Elmo got yesterday. ;(

It’s a shame Robert doesn’t think you can afford private school. The administrators at Starling’s school sound like monsters. All children need to interact with one another and friends are vital. To separate her from Amber is really not a good way to foster her personal growth and development.

What does this school have against your precious girl? They allow other children to bully her, they separate her from her friends… what’s next? Are they going to make her eat carbs?

Cari and I are trying to get carbs restricted from the school altogether, but they are surprisingly unhelpful. In an ideal world the lunch ladies could focus on making their own kombucha and massaged kale salads.

Lah-Lee…you do so much for your family already! You should ask your groom to drop little Hummus off at pre-school for you! You need a little “temps pour moi” in your day!!!

I think I will ask him soon. I haven’t quite gotten around to telling him about it. The tuition is very reasonable but the church it is affiliated with is a teeny bit controversial in our neck of the woods.

Does Hummus’ school have an elementary program? Maybe Starling could go there instead? I bet there’s no Common Core at that school.

Sheesh, the trauma drama your school is putting Starling through! Maybe you should see if she qualifies for one of those designer 504 plans–that way you can mandate that she’s in classes with her bud. My niece got one. All my sister had to do was get a doc to sign off on some “sensory issues” (so trendy right now–all the kids have them) and she has those teachers and admin hopping. I can send you the Drs’ name–he also hooked her up with some medical marijuana for her “glaucoma.”

Wow! It sounds like being in big boy school really tired out Hummus! If he’s not awake when you are dropping him off, those little glass bottles of Starbucks mochas might give him a lil boost for the long day ahead. He’s probably sleeping through bathroom time and it might cut down on accidents. They also have a lot of milk in them so they are really good for kids.
