Leisure Time at the Lake

This morning I was getting the children ready to go take a few snapshots at a county fair a few counties over, but Röbert insisted that we stay home and enjoy the lake out in front of the house.  I wasn’t happy about it, but he went so far as to hide the car keys and there is no Über out here in the boondocks, can you believe it?  So today was lake day.  The kids seemed to enjoy it, but I know they were probably wishing they could have spent the day making photo memories.

Röbert took Hummus for a long paddle in the canoe while Merlin gave me a pedicure.  I got to relax in the very comfortable lounge chairs at the end of the dock, and I might have gotten a teeny bit of a tan.  Don’t tell my dermatologist!

Hummus thought he was helping with the paddling, LOL!

Starling was so excited to go fishing, until she saw Röbert cleaning the fish afterwards.  She spent the rest of the afternoon texting Amber and Alcott.

I think that is a red snapper.

Unfortunately, by the time it was Merlin’s turn we were all tuckered out.  That’s okay, he got a lot of his summer homework done while hanging out on the lovely screened porch.  Mr. Williams will be so proud of him when school starts back up.

Röbert had dropped a minnow trap off the end of the dock last night and Merlin did find a little friend in there today.  It may be his friend that I most enjoy being around, LOL.

He named it Crusty.

He named it Crusty.

Once a nerd, always a nerd; he immediately sketched the thing and wrote a small report about it.  Yikes.  We need to get him some cool friends.

Is it just me, or is the kid a little weird?

Tonight Röb wants to have a campfire.  Well, I hope everyone is prepared for a bath afterwards, because I don’t want all that smokey stink inside my house!

Crusty is a whole lot better than Birdy. First of all, if I tossed Birdy into the lake some damned animal lover would report me and have me arrested. Birdy loves Merlin, but just squawks at the rest of us.

Keep a lid on that, Lah Lee, or the next thing you know, he’s going to be asking for an aquarium or a snake or a lizard or something. Though maybe you could talk him into raising some of those pedicure fish for you?

Hi. I know it is hard for you to follow my blog. I hope someone will read this answer aloud to you so that you know that I like having even our friends who can’t spell simple nouns share my thoughts. My son is named Merlin.

One of the crazy things my family does on vacations is pack suitcases. We include clothes, toiletries, and even art supplies. Next time you go on vacation, perhaps you could ask Mommy to pack some paper and pencils for you.

Wow, that was a little unladylike, Lah Lee. I thought vacations were to make you RELAX. Your fuse is shorter than when you were at home! We are your guests, would you speak to your guests like that if we were all sitting around your living room? I hope not.

I’m sure it must be an honest mistake. Let us open our hearts to the less fortunate: those who are less beautiful than we.

Wow, Merlin is a little star, isn’t he? His handwriting is lovely. He is so clever; you must be very proud of him. It looks as though Starling has put on a little weight whilst you’ve been away which is good as young girls’ excessive dieting is such a worry for modern mummies.

I’m surprise B-Bob lets Human stand up in the canoe like that! TIPPICANOE am I right? haha I remember that campaign slogan from my youth. I mean history class.

Great pictures, where is the shot of you in a lounge chair and you take a picture with your camera pointed down your legs so your toes are framed by the amazing lake/beach/ocean/giant squid beak/sunset behind them!? There’s nothing like looking at a perspective shot of a stranger’s legs to really give me that festive vacation feel!

So sad that you didn’t get good shots. What a waste of a day. No one will ever know about your vacay without pics. #notwinning

Excuse me for commenting on Marlin’s choice of activity. I’m sure Starving and Humus enjoyed some time with the crayons as well– you just didn’t want to brag too much about your children’s acheivememts.

Surely it was diet tonic. I have read that the pop stars drink Sugar free Red Bull all day, then add a lil vodka at night. I think this is a diet plan that meets most of a slim girl’s requirements.

I have to ask, are you putting on a few pounds? Is that the real reason you can’t find the right angels for the feet-n-legs vacay pic? Don’t let the patriarchy oppress you! I think you should go all ‘gurlz-gone-wild’ after the kids are in bed (like around 5pm,when the light is devine) and hire a professional photographer (or any nice man rowing along) to take some #omglakevaca pics of you in your natural you.
