Happy Mother’s Day

I woke up to such a sweet surprise this morning.  All of my darling littles had piled into bed to cover me with hugs and kisses and bring me breakfast in bed.  Toast (LOL forever!) and black coffee.  I reminded them that Mommy and Starling don’t eat carbs, but I did drink a teensy bit of the coffee.  Not good.  I showed Merlin how to make a better pot of coffee after I got home from the gym.

They also each had made me a special gift.  From Hummus (I am sure you can guess) it was coloring pages from the gym.  He just loves coloring in the gym child care and that is why I let him spend so much time there.  Obviously it is very educational for him, now that they are no longer employing foreigners.

Haha! He had scribbled all over the place where he was supposed to draw Mommy's face in all of them. So innocent and adorable.

Merlin had made me a a book of poetry at school.  Fine.  But when I opened it they were all poems written by him.  The first one was a haiku, for crying out loud.

I don't even get haiku.

Who wants to read poems written by children?  Not me!  Straight into the rubbish bin went that little number,

Nice try teachers, next time a lil' sun catcher might be nice.

Starling had written a darling paper entitled “Five Things I Love About My Mother”.  I just adore it!

Hashtags and everything!

Hashtags and everything!

Röbert said he doesn’t have a gift for me because I am not his mother.  That man had better be joking!

I think I will spend the rest of the day shopping and checking Instagram to make sure that my Mother’s Day is the best of all!

I’m sorry you only got free things, LaLee. My kids bought me jewelry and shoes I’d put on my Amazon wish list. They love me so much.

That is so sweet that your children bought you things instead of making something heartfelt for you. I am a little less materialistic than most people, so I appreciate a lovely home made gift.

Happy Mother’s Day to the best Mama Blogger ever!
Your kids presents are adorable. Hummus spent all his time focusing only on colouring you in, he obviously loves you so much! Starlings list is incredible, she is obviously one of the cool kids at school.
Lol at Merlins poems! Its a shame they are specifically about you! That’s the kinda thing you could have regifted to Grandma otherwise.

Well, it turns out that Röbert was just joking, because he gave me earrings at lunch today and they are lovely. I thought he was out of his everloving mind when he gave me that line this morning!

My littles showed how much they love their mama by getting up at dawn with me for a 3 hr photo shoot in our garden before breakfast. Then they wanted to give me a mani pedi but who wants dirty lil fingers messing up my perfect nails? luckily I had booked myself in for a 6 hr pamper sesh at the salon because I know hubs can be forgetful. This gave him a chance to take the kids to see my MIL. Did Roberte do the same with your s?

He could have gone to see her while i was shopping or at the gym but I certainly wasn’t going to waste my special day on our mothers. They should get a separate day, dried up wrinklies day or something.

Good to see Sterling understands the importance of looking your best!
As for Merlin, boys don’t really get it do they?
My 5 year old says “You look good Mommy” when I’m wearing some tatty old last years Armani dress. He really doesn’t understand about being on trend. Lol.

Ugh, Merlin is the same. I will have just come in from a run and he is all, “I love you Mommy. You are so pretty,” and at that moment I am not. It infuriates me.

Well that’s good that he is learning to flatter and lie to women. That can only mean he will be a very successful lover.
