Party On!

Today was our second End-of-Year Party meeting, and I have to say it was pretty lively.  Our goal for today was to agree on a theme.  I had some great suggestions; The Great Gatsby (I have a darling dress for that one), Game of Thrones, Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend, and Cannes Red Carpet were just a few, but Cari couldn’t make the meeting and the rest of the women were just so dreary.  They ended up deciding on “Moving Up”.  What the hell kind of theme is that?  I didn’t cry in front of anyone, but I was so disappointed at the moment.

I had gotten dressed like a serious business lady, and it hurt that no one respected my authority.

Now that I am home I have been concentrating on the “up” part of the theme and I am getting excited.  I am thinking of geysers and helicopters and very high heels and fireworks.  I think we can make something of this theme yet.

Ugh, your ideas are so much better. Your committee members sound like such wet blankets.
‘Moving up’ – Hmm, just throwing some ideas around – Push up bra? High heels? Big Hair? Adderall?
I’m sure that you will find a way to glam it up!

Or, depending on your location, you could take the theme literally. Are their any fun and glam places kinda above yours on the map?
Could Starling be ‘moving up’ to Hollywood? Then Merlin could dress as her Suitcase. Fun. I always love matching outfits.

Tsk… such a shame Cari wasn’t there. Only you against all the dud-moms.
Lots of things for an ‘up’ theme! Up on stage, up on top, up on a pedestal.

Wait a minute, does that mean that you were alone with the dud moms without Ty OR Cari? Honestly, if I were you, I’d be disappointed in my BFFs. What could they have been doing that was more important than supporting your selfless efforts to keep this party from being Drearyville?

Ty was there but he is in an uncomfortable position, and I understand it. I am sure he would also love to be working on a “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” theme, but we have what we have and we just need to glam it up.

Moving up = marrying up! Dress all the boys in little tuxes/white lab coats and dress the little girls up in fur coats and lululemon! It’ll be adorable, and you might even still be able to wear your gatsby dress.

But your ideas are waaaaay better. Good that you didn’t let them see you cry, I don’t know if I could have been as tough!! 😦

And who is the latest global icon of marrying up? Kate Middleton (yes, she’s terribly plain but the perfect example for where determination and patience can get a girl) – so it should not be too hard to convince those dreadfully tardy other mums to agree to a sparkly Princes and Commoners night 🙂

I cannot believe that those other moms didn’t likenany of your ideas, what a bunch of loosers! Back when my littles were little, I found that the other moms were more likely to listen to me if I wasn’t making them feel bad about themselves…maybe instead of rocking a business look next time (btw, you looked FAB!), you can try dressing down a little so they aren’t intimated by you. Tevas or crocs (or whatever hideous footwear is de rigor with the schleppy mom set) and some reading glasses would make them feel less bad about themselves and more likely to listen to you next time. Being beautiful, thin, and stylish can sometimes be a burden and this is one of those times.

You’re a hoot! Maybe I could skip the Teva’s and put on a pair of Keens. LOL! Fat Alice’s mom has a cute pair of cargo pants, I should ask her where she shops (spoiler alert: Old Navy).

I find that, despite my beautiful clothes and slender build, people find me extremely approachable. It is just an aura of kindness I seem to have around me.

This theme could be great! Moving up as in moving to the upper class from the lower or middle classes – great for getting them thinking about college! This totally works with the idea of an upper class ie. VIP section. What inspirational things you could come up with for those poor kids whose parents don’t work as hard as you guys do. Cari will get this, I’m sure.

It is nice that my readers understand what makes a good party theme because the women in the meeting were making me question my judgement for a hot second. One of the other suggestions was “Lazy Days of Summer” and there was talk of a fishing hole. Margie was probably shaking with delight that she could cover up her problem areas with a pair of baggy overalls and a straw hat (Her hair is so bad!) but I would have had to quit, and probably move out of town, if they had chosen that.

Moving on up! Maybe you can all go in costume as The Jeffersons! You would be an awesome Weezie and maybe Ty could be George if Röbert is off on one of his business trips! You will finally get a piece of the pie, and then feed it to Karen! Heeheehaw!

What a bunch of lame moms! Do you think maybe they couldn’t afford a nice party dress so they tried to go with an inexpensive theme? That must be sad to be poor.
What about moving up like a glamourous mountain trip?? You could make the classroom look like a fancy Aspen ski lodge for the party!

I thought you were the head of the committee? Shouldn’t you have veto power for these ideas? Your ideas are so classy! Hummus could come along as lil old Tyrion, and Merlin could go as Joffrey, it would be so perfect. Starling would obviously be Marjory because she is so stylish and lovely.

This is exactly like what happened to me when John was running for president! I wanted him to pick someone fresh and healthy like that hot Rand Paul who was such a breath of fresh clean tea-scented air on the GOP scene and he went out and picked that ugly troll Sarah Palin! Oh I cried! I don’t mind telling you, now that it’s all over (for now! Maybe we will run again, hmmm?) that I was very disappointed and I am not even sure how he MET Sarah Palin! With a flag wrapped around her on a horse or something? I don’t even know the whole story.

Well it was a great disappointment to me and then of course my heart was just not in that election season anymore and of course we lost to that horrible foreigner Obama. Very disappointing. Just like your party theme.

Sorry I am late to reply – I was on vacation. Well, I was gone. I wouldn’t call it vacation, so much, but that is what I am telling people so it sounds better…It was more a work thing but I can’t decide if calling it vacation is good (#enviable) or if work is better (#soimportant). Let me know what you think. I am thinking about starting my own blog – did I tell you that?

Oh! And plus it’s baseball season and you know what that means for me! OMG, I just love love love the Red Sox – have I told you?

Anyway! I hope I am not stepping on toes and I bet this has already been brought up, but if they are using “Moving Up” as a theme you could base it on “Up” the movie! Right? I mean, then you’d have your red carpet. I don’t know… now that I am typing that out I am realizing that if you thought of it you probably decided not to do it. I know I can have some lame ideas, but I know that was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw that is the theme. HTH
