Hooray for Hummus

My big kids keep me so busy with school and activities that I sometimes think my lil’ bebe Hummus gets lost in the mix.  So today I want to just tell you about this very special lil’ guy who captures everyone’s hearts.

Hummus is so sweet and quiet.  He almost never makes a peep.  He is so quiet that I sometimes forget he is even there!  Even when he is hurt he doesn’t cry.  I guess you would say he is very stoic.

He loves art and is quite an artist.  I throw away most of his work, because there is just so much of it.  I think he spends the entire day at the gym child care scribbling away on his coloring pages.

This is one of his pictures from New Years. The gym child care is very educational and encourages creativity.

Speaking of the child care at the gym, Hummus absolutely loves it there.  He gets more excited when he gets there than I even do!  He loves one of the caregivers there, I think her name is Renata or something and he calls her Mum Mum, his only word.  He sees her and starts screaming, “Mum Mum! Mum Mum!” and reaching for her.  It is so cute.  He has so much fun that he starts crying and hides when he sees me come to pick him up.  It is so great that we have found a place for him that he enjoys so much.

Having a baby around to cuddle is one of the best things in the world.  Hummus spends a lot of time playing quietly by himself but I just love to scoop him up and get my baby love!

Her we are just snuggling away!

He also loves his big brother and sister, and they love him right back.  Merlin loves feeding him and changing him and picking up after him and giving him a bath. Starling likes playing a game where she hides from him.  It is so special to watch my big guys take care of their baby bro.

The thing Hummus likes best of all is being by himself.  He spends hours every day just quietly sitting in his crib or in the bathtub, looking off into space.  He must be a real thinker (like his Mama).  He also loves to play outside by himself.  I try not to intrude, because he seems to really need this alone time.  Just the other day he spent several hours wandering around the backyard by himself.  I wonder what he was thinking about?

He seems to really love the snow.

Sometimes I get a little bit melancholy when I think about Hummus growing up, because he is my baby, but then I remember how much I will enjoy having to spend less on baby stuff.

Is he 28 months old already? But still a baby, for as long as he still fits in the crib, right? Even if he needs a little help to stay in it. Pesky boys!

I guess Hummus will grow up to be one of those strong silent types who collect things in their rooms like fireworks and explosives.

It’s funny that he doesn’t look at all like the rest of the family. Do you think he was switched at birth?

If you even have enough fingers to count on PSL, you might be able to do the math here. I met Ty, who is only a dear, dear friend, last fall, when Hummus was nearly a year old. Also, if you had ever seen Röbert and I together you would laugh at the suggestion that we are unfaithful. We are extremely happy and in love.

I wonder if something is wrong with him. That does not sound like a normal 2 year old boy. Yikes. I’d have him evaluated. Maybe he got autism from some vaccinations or something.

Or got poisoned by municipal water. Did you know that water has hydrogen in it? Hummus could have hydrogen poisoning!

Just because you are jealous of my happy and well adjusted lil’ bb, you don’t have to make fun of our municipal water here. It is crystal clear and tasty and all of my house guests comment on how wonderful it is. I don’t know, I mostly drink kombucha and wine.
