Hurrah for Sports Games!

Last fall Merlin and Starling both played soccer for a little while.  Then it became super inconvenient because they both had games at different times and so I took Merlin off of his team so I wouldn’t have to spend my entire Saturday watching little kids whiff away at a spotted ball.  Starling quit a week later because it was boring and she hated one of the girls on her team for being ugly.

They did look cute in their lil' uniforms!

Anywhoo, I just found out that soccer is an actual sport game, like baseball, except European and classy.  They even call it football, which is confusing.  People who like soccer, I mean football, wear scarves and are called hooligans.  Grown men play it and sometimes even women, but just not on real teams.

There are even American football teams, but here they are called soccer, like the children’s games (I know!).  Right now the players are deciding to go on strike, like teachers do all of the time.  There was a picture of some local hooligans in our paper this morning and you will never guess who was sitting in the front row; my most hipster friend, Ty!  I had no idea he liked soccer even, but he has a scarf, so I guess it is true.  Some of them were interviewed about the strike.  In my humble opinion, it would be a shame if they went on strike.

It looks like they were getting together at a local pub to watch a game.

I think I might really enjoy getting to know more about this fascinating sport.

I don’t really understand any of what you wrote, too confusing for this gal!! But, Ty looks super cute in his scarf. Maybe you should adopt him! I mean, you’re practically his mom’s age & you could use a good-looking son.

I like your new header photo. It is really beautiful. Your collar bones are quite prominent you skinny Mama!!! All that time at the gym is paying off. It is a shame only you and Merlin are smiling though. That Hummus sure is growing up! I didn’t really follow all the specifics in your post but how sad that Starling had an ugly girl on her team. How did that happen? Aren’t there try-outs to avoid stuff like that? How is that Starling doing with her weight loss?

Usually we request which families we want on our team and I volunteer to coach, so I can make it happen. Then I get an unpopular mom to do all the coaching part for me. Unfortunately, last fall they said they had all their coaches already.

Starling is doing very well with her “healthy eating” practices.

    Two totally unrelated questions.

    How old is Hummus now?
    And
How long have you known your awesome hipster friend Ty?

Ty has been my friend since the first moment we met and bonded. He is the teacher of the genius (or gifted and talented, whatever, class at the kids’ school.

I see Ty’s a newer friend, you just have a deep connection.

It’s so funny how babies resemble different unrelated people in our lives. So cute.

I see what you and your filthy mind are getting at. I met Ty last fall, when Merlin was asked to be in the gifted and talented class at his school and Ty was his teacher. We are just friends.

        You disgust me.
