She is not fat!

My sister-in-law, who is a real piece of work, sent Starling some hand-me-down clothes this week.  Normally I would never allow one of my children to wear used clothing, but Starling saw the box and was excited to wear some of the dresses.  There is this one dress in particular that she is just wild about.  Unfortunately it makes her look fat. Starling is a tiny little thing and I am wondering if my sister-in-law sent that dress on purpose, to make her look ugly.  What do you think?  Believe me, that woman is capable of just about anything.

I have been making oinking noises and laughing at her in this dress to discourage her from wearing it.

Do you think the pear shape on the front is a secret message?

I know that Starling is perfect in every way, but I guess I will put her on a diet, just to be on the safe side.

Of course she is gorgeous, but in that way that the girl in high school who needed to lose just a lil’ weight but her face was so pretty because it wasn’t gaunt looked gorgeous. I love your name, btw.

Yikes. I wonder if your SIL reads your blog? That dress is not very flattering on Starling but I worry about your oinking noises giving her a complex and perhaps an eating disorder. I don’t think tween girls are supposed to “diet” but I could be wrong.

Why on earth would oinking noises give her an eating disorder? They are just a fun reminder that she needs to lose some weight. I also have no ideas why you think I shouldn’t put her on a diet. All girls diet. It makes her feel grownup and she LOVES it when I have her diet. She doesn’t want to walk around looking like a lil’ piggy!

Exactly! It’s like people think healthy eating and exercise are bad or something.

Last night Starling had melba toast and a dab of cottage cheese for dinner and she felt great. If you don’t have something nice to say then I think you should shut your piehole.
