A Lil’ Fall Trip

We had such a crazy start to our week, what with the genius class problems and dog attacks and so forth that I decided yesterday to get away to the beach for a few days.  Starling and I drove over this morning and the boys will follow tomorrow.  We did a lil’ shopping and got our nails done.  Then Starling ran into some friends on the beach and played tug of war with them.  Her team won (of course).

She loves a little healthy competition.

I took her to our favorite restaurant which is right on the wharf.  She had the lil’ skipper’s special  (fried clam strips and french fries) and I had wine, lol!

Three sheets to the wind matey!

We went back to the condo we rented and I put her to bed early so could catch up with my Facebook and have a lil’ merlot, which is so much more sophisticated than other red wine. I put on my cozy new pajamas and just laughed at how absent minded Röbert is!  Honestly, men, right?

Well, Starling is very athletic but not in a boyish way. I wish they would let them do real sports like step-balance, spin and aerobofit instead of boring boy stuff like soccer and basketball at school. Last week the gym teacher tried to make her play dodgeball, which everyone knows is a made up game. She refused and I got called in to school. I gave them a piece of my mind about what kind of exercise they should be offering our lil’ girls. Starling does not have big ugly muscles like some girls in her class who have gossipy mothers.

This trip sounds like just what you all needed. I had another thought about Starling and the gifted class. I know she is good at math but all she will really need math for as a grown woman is to figure out the sale discount at Nordstrom! Right? What else do Moms need Math for these days? She’ll have a handsome husband (like Robert) to provide for her I am sure. She is so pretty just like her mama! Focus more on her looks so she can snag a rich man. That should be her life goal;) LOL!

Of course Starling needs to be good at math (and she is…she got a B+ in math last year!) Have you ever heard of something called the SATs? In nice areas of the country teenagers take these special tests in order to get into prestigious colleges where girls can meet successful boys and marry them. So Starling needs to be pretty AND smart. It is so stressful for kids these days.

Also, do I really want Monica Breese to be able to brag about her horrible daughter getting better grades than my precious Starling?
