Wow! It sure is hard being a single mom! Merlin woke up in the middle of the night complaining that his chin hurt. Of course it hurts! He has stitches! What did he think? He wanted to climb in bed with me but Starling was already there so he had to stay in his own room. I woke him up early though and dropped him off at the pre care at school so he could have breakfast with his friends. Starling was exhausted from his midnight antics so she stayed home with me today. She and Hummus played hairdresser this morning.
We dropped Hummus off at the child care at the gym so we could go to a new grocery store in town. It was such an interesting place! It is a tiny bit expensive but the shelves have curators, not stockers…so sophisticated! We ended up getting the cutest little mason jar of lavender salt, some black rice (very exotic) and clam jerky. It was the most delicious dinner. I had to wear my new glasses to read the tiny typewritten labels on all of the jars.
Then my phone rang. It was the gym child care. Apparently Hummus’s fever had gotten worse (it was only 101.5 this morning and everyone knows babies run hot) and he wouldn’t stop crying. They had been paging me for 45 minutes and thought I wasn’t even at the gym. Let me tell you, I gave them a piece of my mind. How dare they! I quickly changed and by the time we raced back to get Hummus I had worked up a pretty good sweat. I glared at the idiots in the child care and let them know in no uncertain terms that I didn’t appreciate being questioned like that!
When we got home Merlin was waiting next door with the Sullivans. I totally forgot about his bus. Some days I swear I would forget my head if it wasn’t screwed on. LOL! The children weren’t crazy about the dinner so I sent them all to bed early so I could have a little me time with Mr. Pinot Grigio. I can’t wait for Röbert to get home tomorrow. This has been grueling!
